If you’ve been paying attention, you might have noticed that one the left side of the blog
is an ever changing list of projects at Donorschoose.org. What is Donorschoose.org? It’s a nonprofit organization which has a remarkably simple and brilliant idea:
Teachers who need new books, equipment, etc. post a request describing exactly what they need and the cost, Donorschoose.org verifies that the request is on the up-and-up, and then posts it on their website. Then everybody, including you and us at blog HQ can read these requests and choose which to donate to. The brilliant bit is that you don’t have to give all the needed money, you can just give $5 or $20 or whatever you like and if enough people donate enough money to pay for the request, the teacher gets it!
If you’re thinking you’d like to do some good in this world, an easy way to get started is to support teachers who are trying to improve their kids’ education! Search on Donorschoose.org’s website and you’re bound to find a teacher’s project that looks well worth helping out!
The ones posted on the left side of the blog are automatically generated by a search for requests in Oklahoma having to do with math. Right now there are 126 such projects! Everything from starting a math center here in Norman, to buying scientific calculators for a class in Beggs, to math manipulatives for Cheyenne.
Go check them out!
