The OU McNair Scholars Program is currently accepting applications for first-generation/low-income or underrepresented students who are interested in pursuing graduate school following graduation. McNair offers the opportunity to gain invaluable research experience with the aid of a research stipend ($1400 per semester), while networking with some of the University’s top faculty.
First-generation students are those whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate degree and the low-income guidelines are determined by the number of family members claimed on your 2008 taxes as it relates to adjusted gross (taxable) income – http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/trio/incomelevels.html. Students currently underrepresented in graduate education include African Americans, American Indians and Latino(a)s. The academic requirements for the program are a 3.00 GPA or higher and at least 60 credit hours.
For more information about the McNair Scholars Program, please see http://www.ou.edu/special/mcnair/McNair/Home.html or contact Sophia at 325.0591/smorren “at” ou.edu. The deadline is April 2, 2009 so don’t delay!
