Every January MIT has a gigantic Mystery Hunt. People work in teams to solve a large number of puzzles. The solution to the puzzles leads to finding a coin which is hidden somewhere on the MIT campus. This year the team “Beginner’s Luck” found the coin at 3:02am on Monday, January 19th, 2009.
Every year the puzzles are a crazy mix of dozens of challenges and teams need to be good at vocabulary, logic, math, and general puzzle solving to have a chance of finding the coin. And it helps to have a twisted (and slightly dorky) sense of humor :-). The title of this post comes from the names of two of this year’s puzzles.
Fortunately for us who don’t live in Cambridge, MA, the MIT folks put the Mystery Hunt on the Internet. You can find it here. What better way to spend a snow day than with your roommates cracking some puzzles?
P.S. The puzzles have a link to their solution if you get stuck.
